Dr. Sam Lofquist, DMD
Dr. Sam Lofquist received advanced training at the Swiss BioHealth Clinic, the Dr. Ghanaati (MD, DMD, PhD) Educational Program, and the Costa Rica BioHealth Clinic. He also completed all courses in the Holistic Dental Education Series taught by Dr. Judson Wall, recognized for his expertise in biological density education. Dr. Lofquist is a member of the Integrative Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and is SMART Removal Certified. He completed his Maxi Residency in Biological Dentistry, Biological Surgery, and Implantology, focused on Guided Open Wound Healing, and is completing the final steps to be recognized by the Swiss BioHealth Clinic as a Specialist in Biological Dentistry and Ceramic Implants. While implantology is not a formal dental specialty in the United States, this recognition reflects advanced training and extensive experience in biologically focused implant procedures. Dr. Lofquist has completed over 350 hours of continuing education in biological dentistry, emphasizing advanced biological dental surgeries.
Dr. Lofquist’s passion for biological dentistry began after experiencing a traumatic dental injury while playing professional ice hockey. Following a recommendation from a teammate, he visited a biological dentist to address his root canals and observed firsthand improvements in overall health after the treatments. This experience inspired him to focus exclusively on evidence-based biological dentistry, following protocols and using materials grounded in scientific research. Unlike other practitioners who may combine traditional and unproven methods, Dr. Lofquist is committed to practicing strictly biological dentistry, prioritizing patient safety and long-term wellness.
A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Lofquist played 12 seasons of professional ice hockey across the USA, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Switzerland, and China before transitioning to a dental career. Growing up in a household focused on health and holistic wellness, he naturally adopted biological dentistry for both his practice and personal oral health. Today, Dr. Lofquist continues to apply these principles at Biological Dentistry of Southern California, ensuring that patients receive care aligned with the highest standards of biological dental practice, including advanced ceramic implant procedures.
