Ceramic Implants
In addition to their esthetic advantages and strong biocompatibility, ceramic (zirconia) implants are a metal-free option that may help minimize the potential for local irritation or inflammatory responses compared with traditional titanium implants. When clinically appropriate, ceramic implants can often be placed immediately following tooth extraction, titanium implant removal, or bone grafting procedures, following established immediate implant placement protocols. All implant recommendations are individualized based on diagnostic evaluation, CBCT imaging, and patient-specific healing considerations.
Root Canal Treated Tooth Removal
We provide minimally invasive replacement of teeth that have undergone root canal treatment using biocompatible ceramic (zirconia) implants, along with other biocompatible options. This approach is designed to address teeth that are compromised or may harbor persistent localized inflammation. When indicated, adjunctive protocols such as ozone therapy and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are used to support site disinfection and optimize the healing environment. All treatment decisions are based on comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, CBCT imaging, and individualized patient assessment.
SMART Amalgam/Mercury Removal
When clinically indicated, amalgam (mercury) fillings are safely removed using the SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) protocol, which incorporates specialized isolation and protective measures. This approach allows for replacement with modern, biocompatible materials while supporting oral comfort, structural integrity, and esthetics. All removal procedures are performed in accordance with established safety guidelines, and treatment planning is based on individualized diagnostic evaluation and patient-specific considerations.
CSR and Cavitations
Covered Socket Residuum (CSR)/Cavitations, sometimes found at previous extraction sites, can occur following extractions performed in conventional dental settings. At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we evaluate these sites carefully using clinical assessment and CBCT imaging when indicated. When appropriate, procedures are performed to remove compromised tissue and support optimal healing of the site. All recommendations are based on individualized diagnostic findings, patient-specific considerations, and informed consent.
Titanium Implant Removal
We provide replacement of titanium dental implants with biocompatible ceramic (zirconia) implants when clinically appropriate. Some peer‑reviewed studies have explored differences in local immune responses around various implant materials. For example, recent research has shown that titanium particles can stimulate pro‑inflammatory cytokine activity in peri‑implant tissues through macrophage activation and expression of markers such as TNF‑α and IL‑1β, as well as upregulation of inflammatory pathways in some experimental models. In contrast, newer in vivo studies suggest that zirconia implants may elicit a comparatively reduced inflammatory cell response in surrounding tissues, with less activation of certain innate immune pathways in preclinical models.
These findings contribute to an evolving understanding of material‑related host responses and are considered, along with clinical factors and individual patient needs, when planning implant treatment. All decisions regarding implant removal and replacement are based on thorough diagnostic evaluation, including CBCT imaging when indicated, and a discussion of treatment options, risks, and anticipated outcomes.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we provide extraction of impacted or displaced wisdom teeth using protocols informed by biological dentistry principles. Procedures are designed to support optimal healing. When appropriate, adjunctive biological materials, such as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) or ozone therapy, may be used to support recovery and tissue regeneration. Extractions are carefully planned and performed based on clinical evaluation and CBCT imaging when indicated. Our approach emphasizes precision and individualized care to reduce the risk of post-operative complications and promote effective healing at the extraction site. All treatment recommendations are guided by diagnostic findings, patient-specific considerations, and informed consent.
Same Day Restorations (Inlays/Onlays)
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we provide same-day, patient-specific restorations using biocompatible materials. Larger restorations are made on-site as custom zirconia inlays or onlays, while smaller cavities are filled with high-quality, biocompatible resin. All our restorations are designed to reduce systemic load as much as possible, supported by current literature. All treatments are planned based on clinical evaluation, CBCT imaging when indicated, and individualized patient needs.
Internal/External Sinus Lift
When bone volume is insufficient for implant placement, we use modern bone grafting techniques to augment the sinus and support implant stability. When clinically appropriate, this procedure can be performed at the same time as implant placement. All decisions are based on comprehensive evaluation, including CBCT imaging, and individualized treatment planning.
The Swiss Efficiency Concept
The Swiss Efficiency Concept is a structured, individualized treatment program developed to support thorough oral care and optimal healing. Each patient’s plan is based on comprehensive evaluation, including CBCT imaging, intraoral scans and photos, clinical examination, and consultation. Pre-treatment protocols are typically completed on the first day, followed by surgical or restorative procedures as indicated. Subsequent days focus on post-operative care and monitoring to support proper healing and recovery. The program is designed to provide an organized, stepwise approach to care, helping patients efficiently complete their treatment while prioritizing precision and individualized planning.
Fotona Laser
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we integrate the Fotona Laser into many of our procedures to enhance precision, minimize tissue trauma, and support efficient healing. The Fotona Laser is widely recognized in the field of biological dentistry for its versatility in soft tissue management, minimally invasive surgery, and adjunctive periodontal and restorative care.
By combining the Fotona Laser with biologically informed protocols, including ozone therapy, PRF, and metal-free materials, we are able to optimize treatment efficiency and support tissue recovery.
All laser treatments are performed based on clinical evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and patient-specific considerations, ensuring that procedures are safe, precise, and aligned with current standards of care.
TMJ Disorder
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, TMJ issues are evaluated through a comprehensive examination of jaw function, bite alignment, and imaging when indicated, and a personalized treatment plan is developed to restore proper joint function and comfort. When appropriate, care may include bite optimization, occlusal appliances, minimally invasive therapies, and adjunctive measures such as PRF, ozone therapy, or laser therapy to support tissue health. Addressing TMJ dysfunction can improve oral function, reduce discomfort, and support musculoskeletal balance, with all recommendations based on thorough diagnostics, patient-specific considerations, and current standards of care.
Biological Extractions
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, teeth are removed using minimally invasive techniques designed to preserve surrounding bone and soft tissue. This approach supports structural integrity, particularly when future implant placement is planned. Extra care is taken to minimize trauma to the site, and when appropriate, adjunctive biological materials such as PRF or ozone therapy may be used to support tissue healing. All extractions are guided by comprehensive clinical evaluation, CBCT imaging when indicated, and individualized treatment planning to ensure safe and precise care.
Emergency Dental Care
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we provide urgent care for patients experiencing acute dental issues that require prompt attention. Emergency services focus on addressing severe pain, controlling bleeding, stabilizing compromised teeth, and managing dental trauma. Examples include intense tooth pain, tooth fracture, tooth loss, or other urgent dental concerns. All emergency care is delivered with careful attention to diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient-specific considerations, ensuring that care is aligned with our stepwise Swiss Efficiency Concept whenever possible.
Veneers
Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front surface of teeth to enhance appearance, shape, or alignment. At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, veneers are crafted from biocompatible materials such as zirconia or other non-toxic ceramics, minimizing exposure to metals, BPA, or other potentially reactive substances. Choosing a biological dentist ensures that both the materials and bonding protocols are selected with careful consideration for long-term oral health, tissue compatibility, and overall patient safety, while still providing natural-looking esthetic results.
Biological Cleanings and Hygiene
Biological dental cleanings at Biological Dentistry of Southern California involve a more comprehensive approach than conventional cleanings, incorporating additional protocols to support tissue health and patient comfort. While standard cleanings typically include ultrasonic scaling and hand scaling, biological cleanings may include adjunctive therapies such as pre-operative IV fluids, ozone therapy, laser-assisted gum treatment, and traditional hand scaling. These expanded procedures are designed to optimize oral tissue care and are reflected in the treatment pricing. All cleaning protocols are tailored to each patient’s clinical needs and overall oral health status.
Facial Aesthetics for Smile
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we use platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) derived from the patient’s own blood as a biocompatible alternative for enhancing smile lines and supporting facial tissue health. In accordance with California dental regulations, injections are limited to areas directly related to the smile. PRF treatments are tailored to each patient and integrated into a personalized plan to promote natural-looking results while prioritizing safety, comfort, and tissue compatibility.
