Myofunctional Therapy at Biological Dentistry of Southern California
At Biological Dentistry of Southern California, we provide in-house myofunctional therapy as a first-line approach for supporting healthy airway function, tongue posture, and oral muscle balance. Myofunctional therapy focuses on retraining the muscles of the tongue, lips, and face to improve breathing patterns, reduce airway obstruction, and support overall oral health.
If a patient is diagnosed with airway or oral dysfunction that may benefit from myofunctional therapy, we develop a personalized program tailored to their specific needs. Our in-house myofunctional therapy coordinator guides each patient through exercises designed to strengthen and properly position the tongue and oral muscles, which may help with conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea, mouth breathing, snoring, and TMJ tension.
The program is designed to be practical and easy to integrate into daily routines, maximizing consistency and effectiveness. Each patient receives clear guidance and ongoing support to ensure proper execution of exercises and measurable improvements over time.
Myofunctional therapy is offered to patients who complete a comprehensive exam and have this treatment prescribed as part of their individualized plan, ensuring that all therapy is clinically appropriate and integrated into their overall biological dental care.
